He has also reinvigorated characters that once regularly enchanted small children but have since somehow faded from view - Jack Frost, His most recent series of children’s books, “The Guardians of Childhood,” has relayed the tales of suchĬherished figures as Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. ![]() Morris Lessmore and, most recently, the icons that have populated children’s stories for decades. ![]() From picture books to novels to apps to feature films, the illustrator and animator William Joyce has told stories about talking robots, a certain astronaut named Buzz, a solitary bibliophile named Mr. ![]() ![]() Justin’s healing is still a big focus of the book, but there’s more relationship stuff in this one, including some intimate scenes. ![]() Justin is also reconnecting with Davo and Sparrow who are truly amazing friends. I liked how positive Dallas keeps everything - sure Justin can’t remember much about him or their relationship, but now they get to date each other and fall in love again. We get some really sweet moments between these guys as they find their way back to each other and their established relationship. Over the course of the book, he slowly recovers physically and mentally, but it’s a long journey to healing and continues into the third book. Glen is fantastic! Story: I’m this second book of the series, Justin continues his recovery journey with Dallas by his side. Narration: 100% perfect a be a must-listen. ![]() ![]() ![]() It sounded like a really interesting read and a very important book in terms of representation. I don’t have a great history with hyped YA novels but I wanted to give this one a read during Pride. It’s such a beautiful thing and I need it to say as pristine as possible. It did take a bit longer because I was so careful not to ruin the gorgeous stencilled edges of this book. Mostly because it doesn’t have that literary fiction desire to complicate things. I forget that YA novels don’t take as long to read as the books I usually read. ![]() Thankfully, it was a pretty quick read and I got the majority of it done on Sunday. I’d had a slow end to the week and had let my reading go. On top of that, women faculty in colleges and universities in the United States earn on average 10 percent less than their male counterparts. According to the American Association of University Professors, despite the fact that 60 percent of all doctoral students (the main pipeline for academia) in this country are women, only 46 percent of assistant professors, 38 percent of associate professors, and 23 percent of full professors are female. The aim is to read well, not to read widely. There’s no rush you shouldn’t be disappointed if you only get through a handful of the books in one year. These are the books you should read if you want to improve your reading skills and understand some of the best thought from Western literary tradition.Īlthough the list is long, you should not feel discouraged by it.
